VICE TV: We Are ‘As Committed As Ever’ To ‘Dark Side Of The Ring’

VICE TV remains committed to Dark Side of the Ring, despite recent reports to the contrary.

Through three seasons, the show became quite popular for the way it shined a spotlight on some of the most controversial aspects of professional wrestling history. Some examples include Owen Hart’s death, the Montreal Screwjob, and the infamous Chris Benoit double-murder and suicide.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that VICE TV has not renewed the show for a fourth season, as it wasn’t part of the channel’s upcoming schedule.

“Even though ‘Dark Side of the Ring’ was the most popular show in the history of the station, it was not renewed for a fourth season. There was so much controversy coming off the Plane Ride from Hell story,” wrote Meltzer. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful.)

In response to the rumors about the show, VICE TV posted a statement on its Twitter page on May 2 and made it clear that the channel remains committed to both the series and the more general franchise. In the post, VICE TV encouraged fans to stay tuned.

The statement is as follows:

“We’ve heard some rumors flying around about Season 4 of Dark Side of the Ring. We are as committed as ever to both the series and the broader Dark Side franchise.  Evan and Jason are hard at work making more content that we know our fans of the series will love. Stay tuned.”

Evan Husney, one of the creators of the show, also took to Twitter to poke fun at the speculation and teased that some news is on the way.

Plus, Dark Side of the Ring‘s Twitter page asked fans to name their dream episodes for the fourth season.

Despite these updates, it remains unclear when Dark Side of the Ring will return.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
