Cody Rhodes won’t allow Seth Rollins to manipulate his emotions ahead of WWE WrestleMania Backlash.

Last night on Monday Night Raw, Cody Rhodes interrupted Seth Rollins, who was hosting his own Appreciation Night. The confrontation between the two became personal very quickly as Seth Rollins brought up Dusty Rhodes, Cody Rhodes’ father, and the fact that neither Cody nor Dusty ever became WWE Champion.

Cody Rhodes made it very clear in an interview after the show that he will not allow a Seth Rollins to get in his head with manipulation tactics.

“It’s cheap,” Cody said on WWE Raw Talk in regards to Seth Rollins’ comments about Dusty Rhodes on Monday. “I feel like a lot of times when people bring up my dad, it’s because they don’t have anything really else to say. In his case, I think he’s actually playing chess and I didn’t realize it, where he’s just trying to get under my skin. That’s worked for “The Architect,” “The Visionary” Seth Rollins, that worked for him. It doesn’t work with me. I’ve heard that.

“I’ve been defending pro wrestling and I’ve been defending my father since I was able to walk. It’s not going to get anywhere with me. The thing that got me was saying, ‘Oh, he wasn’t WWE Champion, and you won’t be either.’ Well, then what’s the point, right? I mean, you’re a fan of this industry, the whole thing, wins and losses matter. The guy wearing the title. It all matters. And that’s why I came here. That’s what I want. It’s unfinished business. It’s very real to me. Something like that, I think is like what I said, it’s a line that he crossed heading into WrestleMania Backlash that he didn’t need to cross. Put it on paper, Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes. It’s a dream match. It is but when you try and make it personal, I think you’re pulling something out of me that you’re not ready for. I’m nice. Like I said, I’ve been classy. I’ve been professional. I’ve been all this stuff. But man, when it comes down to it, people are just so comfortable and stuff and then you get popped. You get popped right in the mouth and he can go I get it. But this is the same guy who was looking up at the lights at WrestleMania and it will be no different at WrestleMania Backlash. I came here I’m ready to play it again, and I don’t have to play nice.”

Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes will have their WrestleMania rematch at the appropriately named WrestleMania Backlash. We will have live coverage of the event beginning on Sunday, May 8 at 7 p.m. eastern time.
