MJF Reveals W. Morrissey As Wardlow’s Opponent On 5/4 AEW Dynamite

W. Morrissey — formerly known as Big Cass in the WWE — made his All Elite Wrestling debut on Wednesday, when he appeared as a mystery opponent to face off against Wardlow.

Prior to his appearance on the May 4 episode of AEW Dynamite, Morrissey was perhaps best known for his run as Big Cass in WWE. However, since his departure, he has been wrestling under IMPACT Wrestling as W. Morrissey for some time now. He arrived in the company in April 2021, and he has been a featured member of the roster ever since.

After teasing the superstar’s arrival last week, MJF officially revealed him to be Wardlow’s opponent on the May 4 episode AEW Dynamite. Unfortunately for both Morrisey and MJF, however, the shock factor was not enough to help him score an upset on Wardlow. Though the former Big Cass dominated “Mr. Mayhem” in the opening minutes, Wardlow ultimately clinched the win with a powerbomb.

For a recap of how the match ended, check out below courtesy of our live play-by-play coverage:

Wardlow vs. Mystery Opponent

Before the fighter is revealed, out comes MJF and Shawn Spears. He runs down Maryland.  He tells Wardlow he’s not staying out here, but he should be terrified of the man about to come out. Sure enough, it’s William Morrissey. Bell rings and the two lock up. It’s a stalemate. Wardlow muscles Morrissey to the corner before flexing. Morrissey sledgehammers Wardlow down. W. splashes Wardlow but Wardlow returns it in the opposite corner. A big running boot by Morrissey. The fight goes to the outside as Morrissey maintains control. Wardlow fights back up but W. catches him with a Bossman slam for a near fall. Wardlow catches Morrissey with a standing moonsault. He nails a powerbomb on Morrissey. 1-2-3.

WINNER: Wardlow

After the bout, Wardlow emphasized that he wouldn’t stop until MJF freed him from his contract. “The Salt of the Earth” agreed to give him the match and said he’d reveal his conditions in a contract signing on next week’s episode.
