Sasha Banks Believes Being Told She Was ‘Just A Good Hand’ In NXT Was A Defining Moment

Sasha Banks believes her defining moment in WWE came while she was part of the black and gold brand of WWE NXT.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks was the latest guest* on Cold as Balls with Kevin Hart to discuss a wide variety of subjects. While talking about her time in WWE NXT, Banks said it was really scary just trying to make it there as you always felt that you were on the chopping block.

“It was really competitive back then,” Sasha Banks said. “It was only a group of eight women, and we were still all trying to fight it to make it to WWE WWE or WWE SmackDown. It was like you were always on the chopping block; there was like always a knife around the corner. Someone’s gonna push you down the stairs. It was scary just to try to make it.”

The Boss then revealed her defining moment in WWE when the head writer of NXT at the time told her that she was only a good hand.

“I was probably down in NXT,” Sasha Banks recalled. “But I wasn’t really getting used, and the lead writer came up to me, and he told me that I’m just a good hand. It’s our developmental brand. It’s the people that you see before you see them on the main roster. That was my defining moment. I was just like, I’m going to show you, and the next month I just turned it up. And the next thing you know, I’m the NXT Women’s Champion.”

*It’s worth noting that Banks’ appearance on the show was announced in advance, and recorded and promoted ahead of her reported walkout at RAW on Monday.
