NJPW Best of Super Juniors 29: Night 7 Results (5/24)

The 29th annual Best of Super Juniors has gone into overdrive. Tuesday saw both blocks from this year’s tournament compete in the first of many 10-match supercards, as we get closer to the BOSJ finals on June 3rd.

Taiji Ishimori broke out to the front of A Block thanks to a win over Bullet Club compatriot SHO. While the sneaky win over his factionmate helped him get to 8 points, it was Yoshinobu Kanemaru’s victory over Hiromu Takahashi that kept Ishimori at the top of the heap.

Kanemaru got a dominant victory over the wounded Takahashi, submitting last year’s winner in under 7 minutes. It was one of many upsets during the wild night of action. DOUKI bested El Phantasmo to halt the Canadian wrestler’s momentum.

The biggest upset was likely in the main event of the evening. GLEAT G-Rex Champion EL LINDAMAN defeated El Desperado, making Desperado regret his January suggestion that the two face each other. The win put LINDAMAN in the top of B Block with Desperado and Phantasmo.

United Empire is having a bad tournament. Longtime Jr. Heavyweight stalwart TJP was defeated by plucky luchador Titán in a thrilling match. Meanwhile, Francesco Akira continued his struggles, losing to Alex Zayne in a wild opening contest.

Plus Clark Connors and Master Wato finally got points on the board, and Wheeler Yuta got the better of BUSHI.
