AEW Rampage Results (6/24/22): Andrade El Idolo vs. Rey Fenix

Just two days before AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, AEW Rampage offered fans a star-studded show.

Andrade El Idolo battled Rey Fenix, Jeff Cobb will face Cash Wheeler, and HOOK will take on The DKC. Plus, Mercedes Martinez and Serena Deeb will be in tag team action.

The results are as follows:

Andrade El Idolo (with Jose) vs. Rey Fenix

Andrade and Fenix feel each other out early on. They’re evenly matched early on, and they trade hurricanranas. The two foes exchange kicks, and Fenix rocks Andrade with a back heel kick. Fenix does the Three Amigos and dives onto Andrade at ringside. He drops Andrade with a German suplex. Andrade shoves him off the ropes and sends him crashing to the floor. Back in the ring, Andrade grounds Fenix and proceeds to get a two count with a diving stomp. Fenix rallies and hits a cutter for a two count. Andrade blocks a frog splash and cradles Fenix for a two count. Andrade yanks the ropes when Fenix tries to walk the ropes. Fenix dodges a running Andrade and sends him crashing into the ropes. Andrade evades a Swanton Bomb and Fenix lands hard on his back.

He slams Fenix into the barricade at ringside. Fenix rallies again with a modified Spanisg Fly off the top rope. Jose gives Andrade the tablet, but referee Aubrey Edwards stops him from using it. Fenix kicks Andrade in the face. In the ring, Jose and Alex Abrahantes start fighting. RUSH comes to the ramp and kicks Fenix below the belt while the referee isn’t looking. He throws Fenix into the ring and hits the Hammerlock DDT for the win.

Winner: Andrade El Idolo

RUSH and Andrade put La Faccion Ingobernable shirts on, and they make the stable’s classic sign. RUSH unmasks Fenix, but Penta Oscuro makes the save.

In a promo, Eddie Kingston talks about Forbidden Door and says Blood & Guts is more important to him. He says he won’t be satisfied until he tastes Chris Jericho’s blood.

Backstage, Swerve Strickland says he and Keith Lee haven’t seen seeing eye to eye, but they’ve been getting wins. He says they’ll get another win at Forbidden Door, when they face Desperado and El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru . Lee says they need to keep winning.

Serena Deeb and Mercedes Martinez vs. Sierra and Laynie Luck

Deb and Sierra start the bout. “The Professor” twists Sierra and chops her. Luck tags in, as does Martinez. The ROH Women’s World Champion wrenches on Luck’s arm and floors her with a spinebuster. Deeb tags in again and traps her in a modified Indian Death Lock. Martinez slams Sierra onto Lock. Deeb locks in a submission hold, but Luck reaches the ropes. Deeb and Martinez are in complete control as they double-team luck. Martinez accidentally bumps into Deeb, who seems bothered by it. Still, they lock in stereo submission holds to score the win.

In a promo, Tully Blanchard showcases his new stable, Tully Blanchard Enterpises, which consists of the Gates of Agony and Brian Cage.

Backstage, Lee Moriarty tells Jonathan Gresham he wants a title match. Tully Blanchard interrupts and says his clients deserve it more. Gresham suggests he and Moriarty face Blanchard’s clients.

HOOK vs. The DKC

HOOK takes DKC down and locks in a knee-bar, but DKC reaches the ropes. The LA Dojo trainee takes the fight to HOOK, who fires back with a series of strikes and throws DKC. The NJPW prospect keeps fighting, but HOOK suplexes him and gets the win with the Redrum.

Winner: HOOK

In a split-screen interview, Cash Wheeler and Jeff Cob discuss their match tonight and preview their tag title clash at Forbidden Door.

In a taped segment, Billy Gunn tells The Acclaimed and The Gunn Club about their match at Forbidden Door. The Gunns think they’re going to Japan, but Anthony Bowens corrects them by saying they’re going to Chicago.

Cash Wheeler vs. Jeff Cobb

Wheeler and Cobb feel each other out early on. Cobb suplexes Wheeler and takes control. He sends the FTR spine-first into the ring post. Cobb grounds Wheeler and overpowers him. He’s in complete control, but Wheeler gains some breathing room by locking in a sleeper hold. The two competitors trade blows, and Wheeler catches Cobb with some shots to the body. A chop block and a running elbow knock Cobb to the outside, where Wheeler dives onto him. Wheeler gets a two count with a powerbomb. Cobb counters a DDT but Wheeler gets a two count with an inside cradle. Wheeler gets another two count with a hurricanrana. Cobb suplexes Wheeler and hits the Tour of the Islands for the win.

Winner: Jeff Cobb

Great-O-Khan comes to the ring, and Dax Harwood attacks him. Will Ospreay, Aussie Open, Trent Beretta, and Orange Cassidy get involved. Eddie Kingston attacks Chris Jericho at the commentary table, and they keep brawling as the show comes to a close.
