Report: Alan ‘5’ Angels’ AEW Contract Expire Will Expire On June 30

Alan “5” Angels’ future with All Elite Wrestling is up in the air.

Fans started speculating about his exit when he tweeted, “Excited for what’s next” on June 27. He also removed all AEW references from his Twitter account. F4WOnline.com’s Bryan Alvarez subsequently confirmed that Angels’ contract expired, but he is expected to continue working with the promotion on a per-date agreement.

Angels debuted in the company early on in the pandemic era in 2020. He memorably faced Kenny Omega and got a lot of offense in, despite being a fairly unknown competitor at the time. Angels went on to join the Dark Order stable in May, and he has been a part of the faction ever since.

In recent months, alongside his work for AEW, he has been performing in other promotions. Angels wrestled at the NJPW STRONG Ignition tapings on June 19. He has also competed for Prestige Wrestling, Freelance Wrestling, and ACTION Wrestling. In his most recent AEW match, Angels faced Daniel Garcia in a Pure Rules match at the AEW Dark tapings on June 11; the bout has not aired yet.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.

Update: Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed the news of Angels’ departure by interviewing the former Dark Order member. Angels stated that his contract will expire on June 30, so he will be a free agent on July 1. He noted that AEW informed him that while the company wouldn’t be re-signing him, they were willing to offer him a per-date deal, but he turned it down because he believes proving himself on the independent scene is in his best interest.
