Wheeler Yuta vs. Chris Jericho, Dumpster Match, And More Set For 8/3 AEW Dynamite

Chris Jericho and Wheeler Yuta will face off on the August 3 episode of AEW Dynamite following a confrontation on the July 29 edition of AEW Rampage.

During tonight’s segment that saw Claudio Castagnoli discuss his ROH World Championship victory, Castagnoli called out Wheeler Yuta to come join him. Yuta came down to the ring to chants of his name, but Jericho quickly got enraged by it, and left his station at the announcement desk to storm over to the stage

After arguing back and forth for a bit, Jericho challenged Yuta to a match at next week’s episode of Dynamite. Should Yuta win, he would get Jericho’s shot at the Interim AEW World Championship against Jon Moxley. Yuta was quick to accept, setting the stage for a big match. The winner will challenge Moxley for the gold on the “Quake by the Lake” special episode of Dynamite on August 10.

Elsewhere on the show, the Gunn Club will face The Acclaimed in a Dumpster Match. The former allies will collide in what promises to be a heated battle after Billy Gunn betrayed The Acclaimed to end the alliance between the two teams. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens revealed the stipulation during a rap on the July 29 episode of AEW Rampage.

Plus, after Orange Cassidy and the Best Friends defeated Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, and Sonjay Dutt on Friday, “Freshly Squeezed” will take on the former ROH World Champion in a singles bout. Finally, PowerHouse Hobbs will be in action for the first time since he turned on Ricky Starks last week.

The updated card is as follows:

  • Winner faces AEW Interim World Champion Jon Moxley: Chris Jericho vs. Wheeler Yuta
  • Dumpster Match: The Acclaimed vs. The Gunn Club
  • Christian Cage vs. Matt Hardy
  • Orange Cassidy vs. Jay Lethal
  • The Undisputed Elite Returns
  • ThunderStorm vs. Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter
  • Powerhouse Hobbs in action

WrestleZone will have coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on Wednesday.
