Mickie James: ‘I Feel I’m Done In Wrestling’, What’s Left For Me To Prove?

Mickie James posted two tweets that offered some clarity about her mindset regarding her career at this stage.

On August 8, when a fan on Twitter wondered whether she’d be Asuka’s partner in the tournament for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament, James responded and stated that she feels like she’s done in wrestling.

The veteran followed up with another tweet on August 10. When one fan stated that she’s too good to retire, James wondered whether she has anything left to prove or do. Instead, she’d prefer to shout “Women’s Wrestling Matters” from the top of the mountain.

James hasn’t wrestled since July 16, when she competed in France. As of this writing, her last match in America was taped on July 2 and aired on the July 14 episode of IMPACT Wrestling, where she lost to Chelsea Green.

James is a five-time WWE Women’s Champion and a former WWE Divas Champion. After WWE released her in a wave of cuts in April 2021, she went on to return to IMPACT, where she is a four-time IMPACT Knockouts Champion. She also started working with the NWA, and she was the executive producer of the all-women NWA EmPowerr show.

Earlier this year, James made history when she competed in the 2022 WWE Women’s Royal Rumble match as the reigning IMPACT Knockouts Champion. She also appeared at IMPACT Slammiversary, where she was the special guest enforcer for the Queen of the Mountain match.

James is currently set to face Lizzy Evo at One Pro Wrestling’s “A New Twist of Fate” event on October 1.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
