AJ Styles: We Need Omos In WWE, He’s A Spectacle And Getting Better

AJ Styles took quite the beating in the ring while being the tag team partner of Omos for a little over a year on WWE RAW.

The Phenomenal One recently sat down with Alex McCarthy of Inside The Ropes to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about how teaming up with Omos came together, Styles said it was presented to him, and he was good with it. Although he noted taking all of the bumps in every tag match they had together probably took a few years off of his career.

“They presented it to me, and I said, let’s go. Let’s do this,” AJ Styles said. “Yeah, it was one of those things where you’re like, oh, great, I’m gonna tag match, so I don’t have to take all the bumps and falls and whatnot. That’s just not when you’re tagging with Omos; you’re taking all of them. So that took a couple of years off my career, I think, but it was well worth it. This guy’s just, if you’ve never saw him before, unbelievable.

“When we go out to eat, people would have no idea who he is. They just know what they saw. Like this giant, and they need you to take a picture with him. I’d just be standing in the corner while they’re taking a picture with Omos. Yeah, that’s really cool. That’s why we need him as part of the WWE because he is a spectacle. He is a large human being, and he’s hungry. He’s learning as much as he can. And he’s getting better. So I look forward to seeing how much he can do it in a couple of years.”

When asked about the team’s breakup and if things went according to plan, Styles believes that they did.

“I think it went pretty much as planned,” AJ Styles revealed. “I mean, you can help him with the tag, but then at some point, you have to be in the ring, and it’s got to be you, and you gotta be able to learn on your own, and I think that was important for him to do so. It still is to this day because you never stop learning. So I think it went well. I think we spent just enough time together to get his feet wet, and then he can get in the ring and do a lot of good things himself.”
