Kurt Angle has opened up about one of his more controversial WWE segments involving The Big Show (Paul Wight).
During a recent episode of WWE Photo Shoot, Angle was shown a photo from the infamous 2004 segment where he used a tranquilizer dart gun on Big Show before shaving his head.
Reflecting on the moment, Angle explained that the segment was Vince McMahon’s idea.
“Big Show, wow. I remember when Vince McMahon wanted me to do this,” Angle recalled. “Now, this wasn’t such a great moment, but it was kind of funny. Vince said, ‘Picture Big Show as a bear, okay? I want you to shoot him in the back and he’s going to pass out.’ That’s a tranquilizer gun. Then I want you to cut his hair off.”

Angle continued to explain that McMahon wanted him to pose like a hunter celebrating his victory after taking down his target.
“[Vince said] Then I want you to pose like you’re a hunter and you’re proud that you just shot this bear dead and you’re holding the head up,” he said.
While the segment was designed to generate heat, Angle admitted that it was difficult for him to go through with it because of his relationship with Big Show.
“I’m thinking, ‘Oh God, this is my best friend I’m doing this to.’ I was almost embarrassed that I did this,” Angle said.
The Olympic gold medalist added that Big Show handled the situation professionally and was a “good sport” about the entire angle.
The 2004 storyline saw Angle target Big Show after the giant returned to WWE programming, leading to a memorable segment that remains one of the more bizarre moments from that era.
