Drew McIntyre Says ‘We Are Wrestlers In A Wrestling Ring’ On 8/15 WWE RAW

Drew McIntyre delivered a memorable message on the August 15 episode of WWE RAW.

On Monday, McIntyre discussed his looming battle with Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WWE Clash at the Castle. He referenced the championships as “titles”, which was previously forbidden when Vince McMahon was in charge. When Kevin Owens interrupted him and questioned McIntyre’s work ethic, “The Scottish Warrior” fired back, saying that he fought and clawed his way back to the company after he was fired in 2014.

He then stated, “I don’t care if you’re a prize fighter, a sports entertainer or superstar. We’re wrestlers in a wrestling ring. Let’s just freaking wrestle.” The former WWE Champion proceeded to challenged Owens to a match. His usage of “wrestlers” and “wrestling” was also remarkable because these terms were on the banned list under McMahon’s leadership.

The match between Owens and McIntyre ended via disqualification when The Usos attacked “The Scottish Warrior.” McIntyre fought them off, but Owens dropped him with a Stunner. The former WWE Champion battled the brothers when they tried to attack him again and cleared the ring of them.

Previously, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that “wrestling” or “wrestler” are not considered “dirty words” anymore.
