Thunder Rosa Comments On How Sasha Banks And Naomi ‘Set The Tone’ With WWE Walkout

Sasha Banks and Naomi infamously walked away from WWE in May 2022 after a rumored disagreement over where their storyline was headed. According to All Elite Wrestling superstar and reigning AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa, she thinks that could be huge for the future of wrestling.

During a recent interview with Adrian Hernandez, Thunder Rosa was asked about the pair, specifically what she thought about rumors surrounding Banks not being happy about their ongoing storyline. While Thunder Rosa did praise the move overall, she did say that it was important to note that not everyone has that type of ability.

“Well, one of my best friends said it the best, he sent me a text…when something doesn’t fit you anymore, it doesn’t fit you anymore,” Thunder Rosa said. “And that’s what it is, and that’s what happened. She can make that statement, and it paid off for her. But for some people, it wouldn’t pay off because they don’t have that status. Let’s talk about status, she has that status thing where…she could have gone anywhere. For some people, that’s not an option, so let’s be real about that too.”

Thunder Rosa went on to say, however, that when presented with an option like that, she thinks everyone should do what Banks did. She specifically pointed out that Banks’ actions could lead to others perhaps recognizing their own worth, but once again stressed that Banks’ litany of options likely left her more comfortable doing what she did.

“So, when you have that option, and you can make that statemenmt, go for it,” said Thunder Rosa. “Because it’s going to really set the tone for a lot of other people that are kind of like ‘I don’t have the status,’ and now they can be like ‘Well, she did it, I can do it too.’ Or they feel more comfortable doing that kind of stuff. So like I said, it paid off for them, and she could have gone any other way. She could’ve gone and done acting, because she was already doing that, or whatever else. Because at that point, like she said, she’s at that point in her career where she has options. Some people don’t have any options, and I hope that with that…she set the tone for other women, and other guys too, to be like ‘Hey, this is not right.’
