New AEW World Tag Team Champions Crowned On AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam

The Acclaimed are the new AEW World Tag Team Champions.

At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, The Acclaimed received a second chance at challenging Swerve in Our Glory for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The teams first clashed at AEW All Out earlier this month in a very close match that ended with Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland retaining.

During their rematch at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Swerve inadvertently hit Lee in the head with Caster’s boombox. When it looked like The Acclaimed were going to win, Caster tweaked his knee coming down from the top rope. Billy Gunn came face to face with Swerve on the outside, and while the ref was distracted, Gunn laid Swerve out with the Famouser. Strickland was rolled back into the ring, allowing for Caster to successfully hit the Mic Drop for the victory.

This is the first AEW World Tag Team Championship reign for The Acclaimed as they end Swerve in Our Glory’s reign at 70 days. With this win, Anthony Bowens becomes the first openly gay man to win a championship in AEW.
