Hiroshi Tanahashi And Keiji Muto Set To Collide One Final Time

Hiroshi Tanahashi and Keiji Muto will battle one final time next month.

As a part of Muto’s ongoing retirement tour, Pro Wrestling NOAH has announced a six-man tag team match for their upcoming PRO-WRESTLING LOVE FOREVER.3 – TRIUMPH event. On Sunday, October 30th, Keiji Muto will team up Naomichi Marufuji and Yoshiki Inamura to face NJPW’s Tanahashi, Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma. The show will emanate from the Ariake Arena, airing on Abema.

Muto and Tanahashi once endured a 30-minute battle for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, with the latter taking home the victory. The two competitors also found themselves on opposing teams earlier this year at Wrestle Kingdom 16. Accordingly, Tanahashi would team with Kazuchika Okada to defeat Muto and Kaito Kiyomiya.

In addition to the six-man tag match match, NOAH has revealed these matches so far:

  • Six-Man Tag Team Match: Keiji Muto, Naomichi Marufuji & Yoshiki Inamura vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi, Togi Makabe & Tomoaki Honma
  • GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships: Atsushi Kotoge & Seiki Yoshioka (champions) vs. Tadasuke & Hi69
  • GHC Jr. Heavyweight Championship: HAYATA (champion) vs. Ninja Mack
  • GHC Heavyweight Championship: Kaito Kiyomiya (champion) vs. Kazuyuki Fujita

“The Great Muta” began his retirement tour earlier this year, with his last match set to conclude early next year. In January, Muto will collide with long-time friend Sting at the Yokohama Arena in Japan for his final curtain call.

Hiroshi Tanahashi battled Jon Moxley over the summer in the main event of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. There, he fell short in contention for the Interim AEW World Championship.
