Tony Khan: Investigation Into Backstage Altercation At AEW All Out Is Still Ongoing

AEW President Tony Khan says the investigation into the backstage alteration following the AEW All Out pay-per-view is ongoing.

After the event on September 4, AEW World Champion CM Punk took shots at the company’s EVPs, presumably Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, in the post-show media scrum. This led to a reported confrontation between the two sides, and it turned into what has been called a “melee”, where Ace Steel allegedly bit Omega and threw a chair at Nick Jackson’s head. Everyone involved was subsequently suspended and stripped of their titles. (Omega and the Bucks won the AEW World Trios Championship at AEW All Out.

In an interview with Variety, when asked about the situation, Khan noted that he is unable to comment on it because the investigation is ongoing.

During the same interview, Khan looked back on the challenges AEW faced at the end of its first year, when AEW Dynamite started to stall in the ratings. He described how he learned from the experience and eventually gained more confidence.

“That was when I started to say, ‘You know, a lot of these setbacks were very preventable,’” Khan said. “And there were things that I didn’t even want to do in the first place. So I just said going forward that I’m only going to do ideas that I feel good about. … As I gained experience in wrestling, I started to gain more confidence.”

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
