Report: CM Punk Undergoes Surgery, Recovery Expected To Take About Eight Months

CM Punk had surgery earlier this week, and he’ll be out of action for a few months.

Punk reportedly suffered the injury at AEW All Out, where he defeated Jon Moxley to win the AEW World Championship. At the post-show media scrum, he made some heated comments at the media scrum, which reportedly led to a physical confrontation with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. Everyone involved was subsequently suspended, according to recent reports, and AEW vacated both the World Championship and the World Trios Championship.

In the September 9 edition of the Daily Update, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter wrote that Punk had surgery for the torn left triceps he suffered at AEW All Out. The typical timeframe for this recovery is approximately eight months. Meltzer also noted that Punk’s doctor recommended having surgery quickly to avoid muscle atrophy.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
