AEW Dynamite Results (10/26/22): AEW World Title Match And More

Renee Paquette introduces MJF. He asks the crowd if there are any “devil worshippers” in the crowd. When asked about his upcoming match with Jon Moxley, MJF mocks the champion and calls him “mid”.  He recalls how William Regal made it seem like he couldn’t beat Moxley without using his diamond ring. MJF promises that he won’t use the ring at AEW Full Gear. MJF says all he’s ever needed to be successful is a grudge, and he’s full of them. MJF says that, at Full Gear, he’ll be fighting every “sorry scumbag” who told him he’s not good enough, and he’s going to shove the chip on his shoulder down their throats. He calls himself a generational talent. Stokely Hathaway interrupts and teases that The Firm will attack Moxley. MJF says that if The Firm even looks at Moxley, he’s fired.

In a promo, The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, and Maria Kanellis) discuss their debut. Matt Taven says he’s going to step up to the plate; he challenges Wardlow to a match for the TNT Championship. Wardlow says that it doesn’t matter what Taven has done before; this Friday, Taven will be the next casualty of the Powerbomb Symphony.

Bryan Danielson vs. Sammy Guevara (with Tay Melo)

The two competitors feel each other out. Guevara takes control early on with a flurry of offense. Danielson fires up and grounds Guevara. Danielson says he’s going to kick Guevara’s head in. Guevara catches Danielson with a knee strike and hits a springboard moonsault. Guevara continues to ground Danielson, and he suplexes “The American Dragon”. While Guevara distracts the referee, Conti wrenches Danielson’s arm in the ropes. Guevara continues to control the action. He mocks Danielson by stealing his signature kicks to the chest. Danielson rallies and slaps Guevara. Danielson chops and kicks him. “The American Dragon” dives onto him at ringside. Guevara hits a standing Spanish fly.

Danielson counters a standing moonsault and traps Guevara in the LeBell Lock, but the former TNT Champion reaches the ropes. Guevara hits an avalanche Spanish fly for a two count. Danielson hits his signature running knee. He stomps Guevara’s head several times and locks in a triangle choke. He elbows Guevara’s head until the referee calls for the bell.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

In an interview, Alex Abrahantes says Rey Fenix should target the All-Atlantic Championship. Christian Cage, alongside Luchasaurus, interrupts and says the big man deserves a shot at the gold. Orange Cassidy crashes the party and says “let’s do this.”

Jamie Hayter (with Britt Baker and Rebel) vs. Riho

The match is a stalemate early on. Hayter slams Riho to the mat and trucks over her. Riho dives onto Hayter outside the ring. Hayter slams Riho onto the apron. In the ring, she suplexes the former champion. Hayter grounds Riho and slams her into the corner. Hayter distracts the referee, and Baker attacks Riho at ringside. The former champion rallies and rolls Hayter up for a two count. Rebel gets on the apron, and Riho takes her down. Hayter blocks a tiger feint kick, but Riho gets a two count with a Northern Lights suplex. Hayter drops Riho with a brainbuster and gets a two count. Baker distracts Riho, but she still plants Hayter with a Code Red for another two count. Riho pounds the mat in frustration. Hayter levels her with a backbreaker. Riho dumps Hayter with a suplex. Riho rolls Hayter up for a two count.

Hayter drills Riho with a lariat for the win.

Winner: Jamie Hayter

Toni Storm comes to the stage and poses with her title.

In an interview, Eddie Kingston puts on a fake smile and says he’s doing great. He wants to talk about Jon Moxley instead. When asked about the match, he says it will be a hard one for Moxley, Kingston predicts a victory for Moxley.

In a video segment, Darby Allin addresses Sting’s absence, saying he told Sting that he’s not happy. Allin says he wanted to disappear into a hole, and Sting told him he couldn’t do that. Allin told Sting he wanted to prove himself by himself. Allin says his biggest weakness is himself, and he has no comfort zone. He says the “old friend” Lethal has been talking about can come to Dynamite next week. In a promo, Lethal says Allin is in for a rude awakening next week.

AEW World Championship:  Jon Moxley (c) vs. Penta El Zero Miedo

Moxley and Penta take the fight to each other and trade blows. Penta counters the Paradigm Shift. He does his signature taunt, and Moxley flips him off. Penta dives onto Moxley at ringside. Moxley and Penta brawl around ringside. Back in the ring, Penta takes control. Moxley suplexes him into the corner. Penta takes Mox down with a slingblade. Moxley drops him with a cutter and spikes him with a stump piledriver. Penta snaps Moxley’s arm and gets a two count. Moxley plants Penta with a DDT on the steps.  The champion hits a King Kong lariat for a two count. Penta hits a diving stomp and nails him with the Fear Factor for a two count. Moxley pins Penta with the Paradigm Shift.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: Jon Moxley

The Firm (W. Morrissey, The Gunns, Ethan Page, and Lee Moriarty) attacks Moxley after the bell. Security guards run to the ring, and The Firm beats them up. The Blackpool Combat Club have been trapped backstage, so they can’t help Moxley. MJF comes to the stage and hesitates. He eventually runs to the ring and shoves Hathaway. MJF says Hathaway is fired. Page drops MJF with a big boot. The Firm gangs up on MJF. Page hits the Ego’s Edge. Morrissey dumps MJF out of the ring. The Firm continues the beatdown, and Morrissey slams MJF through a table.
