AEW Dynamite Results (11/2/22): Four Title Matches, Jon Moxley Competes

All Elite Wrestling delivered a star-studded show with the November 2 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Chris Jericho defended the ROH World Championship, Brian Cage challenged Samoa Joe for the ROH World Television Championship, and Jade Cargill defended the TBS Championship against Marina Shafir. Plus, Orange Cassidy defended the AEW All-Atlantic Championship against Rey Fenix and Luchasaurus. Elsewhere on the show, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley faced Lee Moriarty.

The results are as follows:

Darby Allin vs. Jay Lethal

Lethal charges to the ring and takes the fight to Allin. Lethal gains the upper hand early on. Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh come to the ring. Singh distracts Allin, and Lethal capitalizes. He locks in a Figure-Four while they’re outside of the ring. The veteran continues to ground Allin. He drops the former TNT Champion with a German suplex on the apron. He slams Allin onto the steel steps. Lethal is firmly in control as he keeps dominating the action. Allin rallies with a Coffin Splash off the middle rope. Lethal takes control again, but Allin counters a diving elbow into a crucifix for a two count. Allin counters the Lethal Injection into a sleeper hold. He rocks Lethal with a backpack stunner. Singh distracts Allin, and the fan-favorite dives onto him, but he bounces off the big man. The referee ejects Dutt and Singh from the ring. A masked man, dressed as Sting, attacks Allin, and Lethal pins Allin with the Lethal Injection.

Winner: Jay Lethal

Lethal, Dutt, and Singh embrace the masked man, who unmasks and reveals himself to be Cole Karter of The Factory. Sting’s music hits, and Lethal leaves the ring to get ready. Someone sneaks into the ring, and it turns out to be Jeff Jarrett. He smashes Allin with a guitar. Jarrett says Sting is Allin’s biggest weakness.

He then turns his attention to the rest of the company, including their delusional AEW fans. He discusses his family’s history with wrestling and says there will be “bodybags” when he’s done with AEW.

In a promo, Jon Moxley discusses his match with Lee Moriarty tonight, noting that Moriarty was briefly on the Blackpool Combat Club’s radar, but he wasn’t violent or mean enough. He told Moriarty he’d have to go to a violent place for their match tonight.

Another vignette centered around The Elite being ereased; it highlighted their ill-fated title win at AEW All Out.

AEW World Title Eliminator: Jon Moxley vs. Lee Moriarty (with Stokely Hathaway)

Moxley and Moriarty feel each other out. Moxley takes charge and dumps Moriarty with an overhead throw. Moriarty fires up and gains momentum, sending Moxley shoulder-first into the ring post. He targets the champion’s arm and slams him into the steel steps. Moriarty keeps honing in on the arm. He rocks Moxley with a kick to the chest. Moxley slams Moriarty with a modified suplex. Moriarty takes Moxley down with a springboard dive and gets a two count with a suplex. He stomps Moxley, but the champion gets back to his feet. Mox drills Moriarty with a King Kong lariat. Moxley catches Moriarty with a cutter.

The two men trade blows and drills Mox with a knee strike. He suplexes the champion, but Moxley gets back to his feet. Moriarty locks in the Border City Stretch, but Mox escapes. He hits the hammer and anvil elbows. Moxley locks in a choke and forces Moriarty to tap out

Winner: Jon Moxley

Renee Paquette interviews Saraya by herself, as Britt Baker didn’t show up for their interview. Saraya says Baker only cares about herself. She talks about how much she has given to the business. Paquette asks Saraya why she came to AEW, and she responds by saying there’s something special about it. She notes that she felt like she could help the company, so that’s why she came. When asked about her medical status regarding her ability to wrestle, Saraya says she’ll save that information for next week.

In an interview, William Regal discusses the title match between Jon Moxley and MJF. He says MJF has a lot of potential, but he still has a long way to go when it comes to being a true villain. He says MJF will face a true demon in the form of Mox at AEW Full Gear.

Daddy Ass Birthday Bash

Max Caster raps his way to the ring, taking shots at Swerve Strickland and Elon Musk. The fans chant, “Oh scissor me, Daddy.” Anthony Bowens says he’s glad they’re enthusiastic because it’s been a hard few days. Thanks to “Sneaky Swerve”, Billy Gunn can’t scissor. But The Acclaimed introduce their scissor foam fingers, allowing Bowens to scissor Gunn. Caster says AEW stands for Acclaimed Every Wednesday. Bowens says everyone loves The Acclaimed. He tells the fans to throw up their scissors. Caster brings a big pair of paper scissors into the ring for “Daddy.” He wishes Gunn a happy birthday. Bowens discusses Gunn’s accomplishments and gives him a trophy for “World’s Greatest Dad”, with “dy” written on the end of “Dad.” Bowens and Caster take a shot at some of the intended guests being upset Gunn couldn’t attend a certain reunion. Caster and Bowens present paperwork that would allow Gunn to adopt them.

The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn) interrupt. They’re upset their dad didn’t invite them to the party, but they have a gift. It turns out to be W. Morrissey, who attacks Billy and The Acclaimed from behind. FTR makes the save.

Britt Baker, alongside Jamie Hayter, talks to Tony Schiavone, and issues an open challenge for a tag team match on AEW Rampage.

ROH World Championship: Chris Jericho (c) vs. TBA

Jericho had issued an open challenge for a former ROH World Champion. Before the bout, Jericho grabs a microphone and says Claudio Castagnoli pinning him last week made him mad. He repeated his open challenge and noted that it was open to anymore. Jericho said he’d even whip Lamar Jackson’s ass, which fired up the Baltimore crowd. Jericho stated that tonight would be a monumental night in the Ring of Jericho era. Colt Cabana comes to the ring, as he is Jericho’s opponent. Cabana takes the fight to Jericho and controls the action early on. He clotheslines Jericho, who leaves the ring to regroup. Cabana follows him out of the ring and maintains the advantage. He takes Jericho to the top rope, and both men go crashing to the floor. Back in the ring, Jericho rallies with a springboard dropkick. Jericho flips off the crowd.

Cabana rallies and gets a two count with a splash. The challenger gets another two count with a victory roll. Cabana evades the Walls of Jericho and gets a two count with an inside cradle. Cabana ducks the Judas Effect and locks in the Billy Goat’s Curse. Jericho escapes, and Cabana hits the Superman Pin, but Jake Hager breaks up the pin. Cabana dives onto Hager at ringside. Jericho catches Cabana with a Codebreaker for the win.

Jericho celebrates with Daniel Garcia and Jake Hager. Matt Menard and Angelo Parker grab Ian Riccaboni at the broadcast table. Jericho goes to attack him, but Claudio Castagnoli makes the save. The Jericho Appreciation Society gangs up on Castagnoli, but Bryan Danielson comes to his aid, as does Wheeler Yuta. The brawl continues until they’re separated.

In an interview, Rey Fenix previews his title match tonight. PAC tells him to use the “hammer way”, as he did, to win the match. PAC walks away, telling him it’s something to think about.

AEW All-Atlantic Championship: Orange Cassidy vs. Rey Fenix vs. Luchasaurus (with Christian Cage)

Cassidy and Fenix gang up on Luchasaurus, but the big man overpowers them. The duo sends Luchasaurus to the outside. Cassidy and Fenix trade fast-paced offense. Cassidy gets a two count with a spinning DDT. Luchasaurus enters the ring and gains the upper hand by overwhelming his opponents. He grounds Cassidy, and Fenix tries to take the fight to him, but the big man drops hm with a thunderous shot. Luchasaurus takes control. Fenix blasts him with a kick to the face. Cassidy drills the powerhouse with an Orange Punch. Luchasaurus slams Cassidy into the steps and sends Fenix through a table with a chokeslam. Luchasaurus stalks Cassidy up the ramp. He nails the champion with a headbutt and goes to chokeslam him off the stage, but Jungle Boy makes the save with a chair. He takes Luchasaurus out with a dive off the stage.

PAC comes to the ring and gives Fenix the ring bell hammer. Fenix throws the hammer down and shakes his head. Cassidy rolls him up for a two count. Fenix superkicks him, but a mid-air Orange Punch clinches the win for Cassidy.

PAC attacks Cassidy after the bell. Katsuyori Shibata, alongside Rocky Romero, Chuck Taylor, and Trent Beretta, makes the save. Shibata confronts Shibata. Cassidy hands him the contract for a match on Rampage, and he signs it.

Rick Ross is backstage with Swerve Strickland. Keith Lee confronts his tag team partner about his actions recently, including his attack on Billy Gunn. Strickland suggests they team up with The Gunns to face FTR and The Acclaimed next week.
