Saraya: Britt Baker Is An Absolute Pro, She Helped Me A Lot In This Feud

Saraya is thankful she got to work with Britt Baker in her first feud back as an in-ring competitor.

During the AEW Full Gear post-show media scrum, Saraya was asked about training for her in-ring return against Britt Baker. Saraya noted that there’s still some ring rust to work out, but her neck is in good shape and she’ll keep working out to ensure she’s at the top of her game.

“Luckily, you know, I got to go down to the UK recently, we did some training there. Training with my family is always a plus, that’s where I started. I got to go to the Santino Bros’ ring in California. Jungle Boy actually offered me his ring, too, but I didn’t get to go around there. I will be going back there and asking to use his ring and stuff. I did a lot of training. I didn’t try and do 100% bumping and running until I knew my neck was 100% okay, and then it was an everyday thing. I even had a signing and I had to cancel it because I was like, no, I have to focus on this. I was 100% in on this. So it did take a lot. I know like, in the match today, I am rusty. It’s been five years, and I tried to give 110%. I felt like I did do that, I gave as much as I could. Working with Britt, she’s a star. She’s an absolute star. She helped me a lot. Long story short, I had to work out a lot, and I’m gonna continue to do so.”

Saraya also spoke about the storyline with Britt Baker and how much she respects her opponent.

“Britt was the first-ever signee here in AEW. She has built this division, so I completely understand that. Yeah, I was an outsider coming in, but it was just more between me and Britt. It was just such a special moment for us two. I’m stepping out of character a little bit here, but I just feel like, with Britt, she really carried me around this whole thing [laughs]. Truly, she’s an absolute pro. I was rusty when it came to promos and stuff like that. I felt like we did a really good in-ring promo and then the next week, she just did this beautiful babyface promo. I was like, ‘Oh, man, this is gonna be tough.’ That’s why, with me and here, there’s no real heel or face. You just cheer who you want to cheer for. You either cheer for the homegrown talent, or you cheer for the girl who’s back from a career-ending injury.”

Prior to the match, Saraya said she’s still hopeful that she’ll get to have a match with Sasha Banks. Read more about how often Saraya plans to wrestle in AEW at this link.
