Beyond Wrestling Set To Open New Wrestling School In January 2023

Beyond Wrestling will soon provide a new opportunity for professional wrestlers in the northeast.

Beginning January 3rd, 2023, the Beyond Institute Of Pro Wrestling will officially open its doors. In partnership with Kenn Doane (formerly known as Kenny Dykstra), Beyond created Worcester, Massachusetts’ first professional wrestling school. The promotion’s usual venue, The White Eagle, will host the classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in their banquet room.

Every week, the promotion hosts their “Wrestling Open” show with a wide variety of talent, including Alec Price, Allie Katch, Love Doug, and Little Mean Kathleen. Accordingly, coaches for the school include Worcester native Kenn Doane and 20-year veteran Thomas Santell.

In a recent interview with MassLive, Beyond’s co-founder Drew Cordeiro explained his excitement in opening the program.“We’ll be able to work with people that have no wrestling experience whatsoever. We can train them in Worcester, give them their first matches at Wrestling Open,” he said.

After gaining their footing in the open space of Wrestling Open, students can level up to the next phase. “At that point, they can graduate to some of the Beyond Wrestling supershow events that we do all over New England,” Cordeiro explained.

Though some may feel better suited for non-wrestling roles like managing or refereeing, Cordeiro believes understanding the fundamentals of wrestling still has its benefits. “I’ve always had a lot of people say they want to be a pro wrestling manager,” he said. “Well, in order to be a manager, you also need to train to be a wrestler, even if you’re not going to be actively wrestling, you need to be on the same page as the wrestlers … there are so many timing elements that make the performance safe. Not everybody will land as a professional wrestler.”
