Brian Myers will remain in IMPACT Wrestling.

Following his release from WWE, the 18-year veteran soon returned to IMPACT in the summer of 2020. Since then, Myers has reunited with his long-standing tag team partner, Matt Cardona, as a part of the Major Players. In addition, he’s captured the Digital Media Championship as well, defeating Rich Swann for the title back in July. As confirmed by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Myers will continue his work with the company through 2023.

Myers revealed that extending his contract “was an easy decision” for him. “It’s a place where my talent is going to get the most opportunity. That’s what is important to me.”

With his re-signing, Myers opened up about two goals he’d like to achieve in the new year — the first, involving the “pretty loaded” IMPACT tag team division. “Matt and I, we are very eager to get in there with those guys,” he said. “And Matt is incredible, especially the way he recovered from a torn bicep. The wrestling world didn’t really give him his due while he was out with his injury, but he still didn’t miss a booking. That goes to show the kind of performer Matt Cardona is. And the most important thing for us is to become IMPACT Wrestling Tag Team Champions.”

Myers receives the opportunity to make his hope a reality on January 13th, as teams with Cardona in a high-stakes fatal-four-way tag team match for the titles. At Hard To Kill, the Major Players vie for IMPACT Tag Team Championships against Heath and Rhino, the Bullet Club’s Ace Austin and Chris Bey, and the reigning champions, the Motor City Machine Guns.

Outside of the tag team titles, Myers also has his eyes on singles gold. “Hands down, my goal is to become the Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion. I’ve been an absolute workhorse for IMPACT Wrestling, and I truly believe this is my time,” he said. “I have my eyes set on Josh Alexander [the current titleholder]. We’ve been wrestling for years, but this is our chance to do it on Impact’s grandest stage. I am ultimately going to be everything Impact wishes he was. I’m the complete package, and I’m going to prove that.”
