TNA Wrestling Announces ‘Workforce Reduction’

TNA Wrestling confirmed two talent releases and outlined its efforts to streamline the company’s operations.

On Wednesday, Tommy Dreamer announced that he and TNA President Carlos Silva had mutually agreed to part ways. Dreamer’s announcement came one day after a report said that Tessa Blanchard had requested and received her release by the company.

TNA Wrestling and Anthem Sports and Entertainment issued the following statement to WrestleZone, confirming both releases. TNA says that the “workforce reduction” was done in an effort to streamline its operations and increase the company’s profitability.

TNA’s full statement is as follows:

“Anthem Sports Update — TNA Wrestling today announced a workforce reduction, designed to streamline operations and sharpen strategic focus and profitability,” the statement reads. “TNA’s creative leadership team will see an immediate shift. Tommy Dreamer, who has worked in TNA’s Creative and Talent Relations Departments, is leaving the company as TNA and Dreamer mutually agreed to part ways.

“TNA Wrestling also has come to terms on the release of Tessa Blanchard. We wish Tessa, Tommy and others the best in their future endeavors.”

Former WWE star Road Dogg’s name has come up as a potential replacement for Dreamer on the creative team. Recent reports also suggested that Blanchard requested her release because working with CMLL conflicted with WWE’s relationship with TNA. WWE currently owns AAA, which is a major competitor to CMLL in Mexico.
