Battle Royal For NXT Women’s Title Shot, Tony D’Angelo vs. Dijak Added To 1/10 WWE NXT

WWE continues to load up the card for the January 10 episode of NXT, which will be the NXT New Year’s Evil special episode.

On the January 3 episode, several members of the women’s roster, including Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne, Indi Hartwell, Cora Jade, Nikkita Lyons, Zoey Stark, and Wendy Choo expressed their interest in challenging for the NXT Women’s Championship, and they all started fighting. Practically the entire locker room emptied out and joined the brawl. NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez interrupted the chaos and announced that her next challenger will be determined in a 20-woman battle royal next week, and the winner will earn a title shot at NXT Vengeance Day.

Plus, Tony D’Angelo will take on Dijak in a high-stakes match. The two stars have been at odds since Dijak returned to NXT, as they have both been targeting Wes Lee’s NXT North American Championship. Dijak somewhat helped Lee defeat D’Angelo to retain the gold on the December 27 episode of NXT, as he abducted Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo during the match, and the distraction cost “The Don of NXT”.

The following week, Dijak beat Stacks in a singles match, and D’Angelo brawled with him when he tried to attack Stacks after the bell. D’Angelo then challenged Dijak to a match on NXT New Year’s Evil and vowed to show him “street justice”. During an interview later in the show, Lee noted that the winner of the match will earn a title shot.

Elsewhere on NXT New Year’s Evil, Charlie Dempsey will face Hank Walker. The match was originally scheduled for the January 3 episode of NXT, but Dempsey was unable to compete due to injury. Instead, Drew Gulak defeated Andre Chase, and Dempsey later stated that he will face Walker next week.

Finally, Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) have offered to compete in a Gauntlet Match in order to earn a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships, which are currently held by Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. Woods and Kingston beat the duo to win the titles at NXT Deadline on December 6.

The card for NXT New Year’s Evil is below:

  • 20-Woman Battle Royal – Winner Faces NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez at NXT Vengeance Day
  • Gauntlet Match: Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson) vs. TBA
  • Charlie Dempsey vs. Hank Walker
  • Winner Earns NXT North American Championship Match: Dijak vs. Tony D’Angelo
  • Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) vs. Indus Sher (Veer Mahaan & Sanga)
  • NXT Championship: Bron Breakker (c) vs. Grayson Waller

WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
