Matt Hardy Comments On The NJPW Debut Of Mercedes Monè, What She Could Add To AEW

The wrestling world is still talking about the New Japan Pro-Wrestling debut of Mercedes Monè.

The New Japan Pro-Wrestling debut of Mercedes Monè was brought up on the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy. When asked what he thought about her Wrestle Kingdom 17 appearance, Matt Hardy put over the fact that the former Sasha Banks is willing to bet on herself outside of WWE.

“I mean, good for her. She really bet on herself, and it’s hard for me not to appreciate that,” Matt Hardy said. “Because I’m one of those guys too where I feel like Vince always knew that too; I didn’t have to be in WWE. I’m not afraid to step out of Alexandria, a safe zone. I kind of compare Alexandria from The Walking Dead to WWE, you know, if you stay inside, and you have these walls, you’re gonna have a nice life, and it’s safe, and it’s easy, and you can make decent money and it’s good.

“But you can’t go outside those walls, and you can survive on your own, but you have to hustle. You definitely have to hustle. So I have huge respect for anyone who is willing to leave WWE and go out and hustle on their own, and I think Mercedes is killing it. She’s doing a great job at keeping yourself relevant, keeping yourself in the conversations. Being a huge talking point in the wrestling business and showing up in New Japan and doing what she did was a big deal.”

When asked about the possibility of her showing up in All Elite Wrestling, Hardy said he wouldn’t be surprised if we see her on AEW Dynamite next week.

“Yeah, without a doubt. I don’t even know if that would start; I can almost see her being a free agent for a while and just doing spots at AEW. I could definitely see that happening,” Matt Hardy said. “And it wouldn’t surprise me if she ends up showing up this coming Dynamite as the mystery partner. It wouldn’t surprise me at all.”

Hardy clarified that he didn’t know anything as far as what Monè’s plans were, then also spoke about what he believes she could bring to the All Elite Wrestling locker room. Hardy predicted that her arrival could be very similar to Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE at WrestleMania last year.

“I mean, it would be big; she’s a big star. There’s no ifs, and, or buts about it. She really has put a ton of equity on her name and on her character and on her identity as a pro wrestler,” Matt Hardy said. “And she’s been able to continue to hold that as she hasn’t been working with WWE. She’s kept herself in the headlines, which is great. So her coming AEW would be a big deal. I feel like; in some ways, it would be very similar to almost like a Cody situation in some ways. It’s like a huge jump. Left WWE and came to AEW, it would have that feel.”
