Tony Khan On FTR Contemplating Their Futures: I Would Love To Have Them Back

Tony Khan wants to keep FTR in AEW.

After FTR lost their collection of championships walking into 2023, Dax Harwood announced on his podcast that he and Cash Wheeler have been granted time off to heal from the grueling schedule they had over the last year. The former AEW World Tag Team Champions are also contemplating their futures as their three-year AEW contracts are said to be up this April.

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently appeared on In This Kliq and noted that he hopes FTR returns to AEW.

“I do hope to see FTR back,” Khan said. “They need some time to recover from what was one of the most intense years of wrestling any team’s ever done—the schedule they went through, all the different places they worked. They worked all over and won championships all over the world. They’re a team that competed in AEW, but also competed at the top of Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. They were defending championships all over the U.S., in London, Japan, and in Mexico as the AAA Lucha Libre champs, so they really were globetrotters.

“In addition to being in hard-hitting wrestling matches, they went through all kinds of stuff including this barbaric Dog Collar match at Ring of Honor Final Battle against The Briscoe Brothers that was, to me, one of the most savage, barbaric wrestling matches I’ve ever seen.” Khan added, “So I think, for those guys, we wanna see them back in AEW and wanna see them heal up and come back at 100 percent. We’re really looking forward to that, hopefully. I think they’re a great team and would love to have them back.”
