Michael Cole: The Bloodline Storyline Is Emmy-Worthy In Many Ways

Veteran WWE commentator Michael Cole says The Bloodline storyline is Emmy-worthy.

Over the past several months, Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, The Usos, Paul Heyman, and eventually Solo Sikoa have been involved in a riveting story where Zayn has struggled to cement his spot in the group. Zayn seemingly proved himself when he helped The Bloodline win the WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series, but tensions rose throughout Reigns’ subsequent feud with Kevin Owens. In the particularly dramatic Trial of Sami Zayn on the January 23 episode of WWE RAW, Reigns nearly kicked Sami out of the group before Jey Uso changed his mind. In doing so, he set the stage for a high-stakes title bout at WWE Royal Rumble.

There, Reigns defeated Owens, and Zayn refused to follow Reigns’ order to take part in the post-match beatdown. He hit Reigns with a steel chair, seemingly severing his ties with The Bloodline in the process, and the group attacked him.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Cole discussed the Royal Rumble premium live event. He brought up The Bloodline’s general storyline and shared his belief that it’s worthy of an Emmy Award. Cole highlighted the massive pop Zayn got and stated that the story will be great from here on out.

“We had great stories, we really did,” Cole said. “Those of you who don’t follow the product, I can’t tell you how much you’re missing because this Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, Bloodline, Sami Zayn storyline is probably the best television we’ve done in this company in a decade. It’s Emmy-worthy, in many ways.

“The last 15 minutes of the event Saturday night, we didn’t say a word. We did not utter a sound for the last 15 minutes of that show. [The fans] were chanting, ‘F— you, Roman.’ When Sami Zayn turned on Roman Reigns and hit him with the chair, that pop was enormous. If you go back and watch it, it was amazing. It’s gonna be a great story.”

Reigns addressed Zayn’s betrayal on the February 3 episode of WWE SmackDown, Zayn attacked “The Tribal Chief”, and after The Bloodline laid him again, Reigns told Zayn that he’d give him a title shot at WWE Elimination Chamber. More information is available here.
