John Morrison Discusses His Upcoming Boxing Debut

John Morrison is stepping into the boxing ring for the first time on April 15 to box against Harley of Epic Meal Time.

Morrison was a recent guest on Instinct Culture by Denise Salcedo to speak about a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his upcoming boxing debut at Creator Clash Two, Morrison noted that he’s been a boxing fan for a long time but never expected to actually do it.

“So, I mean, I’ve been a fan of boxing for a long time,” John Morrison revealed. “Never did I ever think about boxing, personally. But I was at Creator Clash One; Nathan Barnatt, aka Dad, was the first fight of Creator Clash One, and he asked me to be in his corner. And at the time, I didn’t realize how big the event was gonna be, but I was excited to watch him fight in his first fight.

“When I went and saw how well he did and how excited everyone was, like all the influencers that fought on Creator Clash One had a really good time, and the crowd had a great time. And when they were booking Creator Clash Two and putting it together, I think they’re looking for someone to fight Harley from Epic Meal Time, who won his first fight at Creator Clash One. And since we met, they just asked me if I’d be willing to fight. And I said, yeah. Actually, I said yeah, but I don’t want to fight Harley ’cause we’re friends. And then he said he would fight me. And that I was like, well, if he wants to fight me, then sure, I guess we can fight.”

When asked if being a professional wrestler gives him added pressure to feel like he can’t lose this fight, Morrison said he does and joked that his wife has threatened to knock him out if he loses the fight in April.

“Yeah, I mean, there’s that, but then there’s also my wife, who said like, if I lose, expect to get knocked out twice on April. 15th Because she’s gonna knock me out too,” Morrison said laughing.

Morrison then stated that he’s feeling all of the emotions right now, as he’s nervous and excited. He made it clear that he feels motivated, and he’s putting pressure on himself by stepping into the boxing ring.

“All those things. It’s similar to a wrestling match, but I haven’t had 4000 boxing fights like I’ve had wrestling matches,” Morrison said. “This is gonna be the first time that I’ve boxed. I’m training with Josh Barnett, who’s obviously a former UFC champion, MMA legend. When I asked him to train me, he said, ‘Sure, John. I’ll train you, but just so you know, boxing is your worst thing.’

“I was like, ‘I know. I know it’s my worst thing. That’s why I need you to train me,’ and I’ve gotten a lot better. I still have a long way to go. But it’s been really fun not just learning a new skill but being kind of under the gun and being forced to learn. I mean, I forced myself by putting pressure on myself by taking this fight, which I feel like it’s kind of a fun thing to have like this crazy goal, and it’s this date hanging over my head, which makes me extra motivated to train every day.”
