Bronson Reed Hopes To Have A Rubber Match With Kazuchika Okada In WWE

Bronson Reed is hopeful that his rivalry with Kazuchika Okada isn’t over just yet.

Ahead of tonight’s Elimination Chamber premium live event, RAW Superstar Bronson Reed spoke to John Pollock POST Wrestling about a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his shocking win over current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Reed said things happen in Japan day to day, and he didn’t know about it ahead of time, but he would like to have a rubber match with Okada in WWE.

“It’s pretty much day by day,” Bronson Reed said. “Japan’s a bit of its own world in the way that they operate, and they do things, and it’s not like WWE and some of these places they have like a set idea for six months in time. Whereas in Japan, I think they very much go off what you do in the ring. They’re waiting to see what I could do, how I’m presented to the crowd, how they feel about me, and stuff like that. And then it sort of moves from there. So yeah, I wasn’t 100% sure about the Okada match, but then when it happened, I was very happy, and I’ve had the two matches with him. Now we’re one apiece. Hopefully, there’ll be a rubber match somewhere down the road. I said, hopefully, maybe under the WWE banner.”

When asked if he knew he would be returning to WWE before his second match with Okada, Reed revealed he made his decision shortly before that match.

“Yeah, I had spoken with Triple H himself at that point,” Bronson Reed revealed. “And I was sort of 50-50 on what was about to happen. I also spoke to the New Japan management, and I sort of made my choice right before that match. So you’ll see in that match, there is a bit of an almost, I mean, not that anything is planned or anything but Okada shaking my hand after the match. And I think it was sort of a, he’s leaving for now. So yeah, it was something that I had in my mind, and by that time, I was ready to come back to WWE.”
