Drew McIntyre Wants To Face Gunther At WrestleMania 39

Drew McIntyre has had enough of Gunther, and following an interaction between the two on WWE SmackDown, he wants to see the WWE Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania 39.

During the February 24, 2023 episode of WWE SmackDown, McIntyre appeared at ringside during Imperium’s match against Richochet, Madcapp Moss, and Braun Strowman. There, he and Gunther had a staredown, and during an interview on WWE SmackDown LowDown, McIntyre called out the behemoth, saying that he wants Gunther, and the Intercontinental Championship, at WrestleMania.

“Five weeks until WrestleMania. I want GUNTHER, and I want the Intercontinental Championship,” McIntyre said.

Whether or not McIntyre will get his Intercontinental Championship opportunity remains to be seen. The superstar’s history with the belt, however, spans across decades. McIntyre first won the WWE Intercontinental Championship against John Morrison all the way back in 2009, at WWE’s TLC pay-per-view.

Since then, his star has only continued to rise, but now he looks ready to return to his roots and knock Gunther down a peg.
