Mark Andrews Reveals How Hectic His Life Was When WWE Released Him

Mark Andrews‘ 2022 was a whirlwind in the midst of being released from WWE.

Former WWE NXT UK Superstar Mark Andrews recently sat down with Alistair McGeorge of METRO to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his WWE release, Andrews revealed how hectic his life was when he got that fateful phone call.

“It’s funny, I’ve talked about it only briefly but I don’t think anyone fully understands how hectic of a time that time of my life was,” Mark Andrew said. “So, all of 2022 felt relatively tense leading up to that point. We moved house, it was two weeks before our wedding, my wife being pregnant at the time and I get the call from the office to say, ‘You’re no longer gonna be with WWE, we’re releasing you.’

“It was wild for me to hear because obviously I’d been working with BBC a lot during this time with my Love Letter To Wrestling podcast, I know there were lots of plans to do lots of cool stuff around the event. I’d also caught wind and rumors from various people backstage that there was a very high chance that there would be someone from Wales represented on the show.”

Mark Andrews is referring to Clash at the Castle, an event that Andrews had custom-made gear for that he was forced to cancel after getting his release.

“[Clash At The Castle] would’ve trumped any WrestleMania, because it was in Wales. I feel very passionate about being one of few wrestlers from Wales that made it to WWE. It was a real wave of emotions, [but] then obviously in retrospect it was incredible. Me and my wife got married on the Thursday, the next day I was very hungover and I went straight to BBC studios to interview Seth Rollins, Bayley and Pete Dunne [Butch].”
