Wardlow Says He Is MJF’s Weakness, Was Surprised By His Iron Man Performance

Wardlow believes he is MJF’s kryptonite.

Former AEW TNT Champion Wardlow recently spoke to Bill Apter of Sportskeeda and was asked to touch on AEW World Champion MJF’s strengths and weaknesses.

“He’s real strong on the mic. I guess you could say he’s pretty decent in the ring. But realistically, for any of those who say he has no weakness, Wardlow is his weakness,” Wardlow said with confidence.

When asked for his thoughts on MJF’s performance in the 60-minute Iron Man match against Bryan Danielson at Revolution, Wardlow actually had good things to say about his former partner.

“It was good. It surprised me. I think it surprised a lot of people,” Wardlow said. “Yeah, he was better than I thought. I mean, the kid’s good, there’s no denying that. But he’s better than everybody except me.”

Wardlow split from MJF one year ago and remains one of the few people to have defeated MJF as quickly and dominantly as he did at Double or Nothing last May. Their scheduled match was in doubt that weekend, though, as MJF nearly didn’t show up. It was a moment that Wardlow didn’t get to enjoy as much as he wanted to, as he previously explained to Digital Spy.

“That should be considered one of the best nights of my life and it really wasn’t,” Wardlow said. “Everything that was going on with Max at the time and then in my life personally. Just nothing was going right and it’s kind of sad that everything built up to this big night and there was so much that ruined it.

“All the crap with Max and everything he was pulling. I mean, I showed up that day not knowing if I was wrestling. There’s a lot more I could say about it but I don’t want to get angry but yeah, that should have been one of the best nights of my life and obviously the outcome was amazing but I really didn’t ever have the opportunity to enjoy it.”
