Kurt Angle: Even Prematurely, Rey Mysterio Deserves WWE Hall Of Fame Nod

Kurt Angle gives his thoughts on Rey Mysterio being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Kurt Angle wrestled Rey Mysterio in Mysterio’s first WWE pay-per-view match at SummerSlam 2002. Angle is also the man Mysterio took the World Heavyweight Championship from at WrestleMania 22 in 2006 in a Triple Threat Match that included Randy Orton. This year, Mysterio joins Kurt Angle in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Speaking on his podcast, Angle says he is so happy for Rey Mysterio to get this honor, but he also feels as though people shouldn’t be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame until they are completely retired.

“That’s right. I am so happy for him. I’m surprised that they’re not doing it when he retires. But, you know, I think Ray being inducted to the Hall of Fame this prematurely, I think he deserves it still. I just don’t think it’s the right time. I think he should get get get the whole thing after he retires. But that’s me. I’m old school, and that’s how I think,” said Kurt Angle, who later admitted that Rey’s induction was inevitably coming sooner or later.

Mysterio also echoed these similar sentiments saying that when he was told about his Hall of Fame induction, his immediate response was that he was not ready to retire yet.
