WWE Apologizes For Use Of Auschwitz Photo At WrestleMania 39

WWE has now released a public statement regarding the use of an Auschwitz photo at WrestleMania 39.

Following recent comments from The Auschwitz Memorial, who referred to WWE as “shameless” for utilizing that imagery at WrestleMania 39, the company has now responded.

A WWE spokesperson issued a statement to NBC News, stating the following:

“We had no knowledge of what was depicted,” WWE said in a statement. “As soon as we learned, it was removed immediately. We apologize for this error.”

The image in question was originally featured in the hype package for the match between Rey and Dominik Mysterio on the kickoff show for night one of WrestleMania 39. By the time the package aired again hours later on the main show, these images were removed.
