Jody Threat Confirms Contract With IMPACT Wrestling

Jody Threat confirms she is officially signed with IMPACT Wrestling.

Threat confirmed the news during a new interview with DS Shin for Ring The Belle, explaining what the situation means to her.

“It’s my first contract ever. I feel so lucky being a Canadian, it’s very hard to get eyes on you and it’s very hard to get those reps in and get out there. To just get to a point where a company wants to invest in you, because there is a working visa that goes along with it,” Threat said. “I’m just feeling so ecstatic and lucky to have been chosen by a company to this level with such a great locker room, that has decided to invest in me.”

Jody Threat did not disclose the terms of her contract during the interview.

IMPACT first teased Threat’s arrival with a promo that aired during the IMPACT Sacrifice live special. Threat made her in-ring debut on IMPACT Wrestling on April 6, picking up a win over Tara Rising. Prior to signing with IMPACT, Threat was known for her work in Winnipeg Pro Wrestling, DEFY, and Limitless Wrestling, among other independent promotions.

Additionally, Jody Threat was featured on an October 2022 AEW Dark: Elevation taping in Toronto in a match against Athena. The match drew criticism online due to Athena being “too stiff” in the match.

Athena later spoke about the reaction to the match and said she didn’t understand it at first but realized that most fans had probably never seen her work a similar style on the indies. Athena also said that the online reaction definitely influenced a change in her on-air persona, adding that she was grateful that Tony Khan trusted her enough to embrace the situation and use it to her benefit.

“And so it just became the idea of my husband Mike was like, lean into it. Just lean into it. Don’t say anything. Just lean into it, you know? And I’m so happy that Tony trusted that. Trusted that, trusted me to be able to pull that off safely. And continue going with this forward momentum. And that’s been the world of a difference is to have that trust and be like, you know what? Yeah, let’s, let’s do it. Let’s lean into it. Let’s go and like every week it’s gone viral, on some level it’s been talked about, and so like, it’s just the right decision. I guess for me personally, because I prefer being the bad guy. And I think it’s because it’s very familiar to me because I did it for 10 years.
