Xavier Woods: I Broke Roman Reigns’ Winning Streak, Why Don’t We Talk About It?

Xavier Woods wants a shot at Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Woods faced Reigns on the November 12, 2021 episode of WWE SmackDown, and the match ended in a no-contest when The Usos interfered. Before that, all of Reigns’ matches following his loss to Baron Corbin at WWE TLC 2019 had ended in victories. The no-contest remains one of two matches that have not resulted in a victory for Reigns; Seth Rollins beat the champion via disqualification at WWE Royal Rumble 2022.

Speaking with Simon Miller for WhatCulture Wrestling, Xavier Woods was asked whether he was in line for a shot at Reigns.

“Yes, very much so. The fact that I won King of the Ring by beating a former Intercontinental Champion in Ricochet, while beating a former heavyweight champion in Jinder Mahal, while beating the first-ever Universal Champion in Finn Balor, and then going on to defeat each of The Usos in singles completion, and then be the only man, oh, sorry, because Seth Rollins [did], but we talk about that one and not mine. I’m the first man to break Roman Reigns’ two-year winning streak, but we just don’t talk about it. Why? Tell me why. I don’t understand why we don’t talk about this. I’ve been killing it. Next year is 20 years in the game.”

WWE star Shelton Benjamin showed up and stated that he was there to give Woods a cease and desist, as he wasn’t allowed to talk about his win over Reigns. Woods responded by saying that he’s not the first person who has told him that.

Woods will face LA Knight on the April 14 episode of WWE SmackDown. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
