Dirty Dango Lost A Fandango Endorsement To Kevin Hart, Still Got Free Tickets For A Year

Fandango was once the name of a WWE Superstar. It’s also the name of a hugely-popular movie ticket website.

Fandango (the wrestler who now goes by Dirty Dango) spoke with Steve Fall for WrestlingNews.co about his WWE career. Fall noted how the wrestling gimmick brought up comparisons to the movie website, and asked if there was ever any pushback about the similarities in the names.

“Let me ask you a question; do you think Vincent Kennedy McMahon knows what the Fandango app is? There’s no way in hell — we were probably 28, 29 [years old] at the time I debuted, and I mean we as the locker room. Most of us for FCW, we all know what the Fandango app is,” Dango explained. “Everyone in the locker room is like, ‘Dude, are you going to throw out movie tickets when you come out?’ I think even if he knew there was an app, I think he’d still be like ‘Ahh, I still want to use it. I like it.’”

Dirty Dango then shared a fun story about how he actually had been in contact with Fandango about a potential endorsement deal. He ultimately lost out on the role to Kevin Hart, but the relationship still had its benefits.

“Little side note, fun fact — I was in contact with Fandango, the company. I believe they’re located in [Las] Vegas or California. We set up a meeting to possibly do an endorsement with me being the spokesperson for the company,” he explained. “They’re like, ‘Yeah we’ll get back to you.’ Then Kevin Hart [got the job]. I was at the movies one day and the opening montages, the previews come on and it’s Kevin Hart cutting a promo for Fandango. I’m like yeah, they went with a little bit bigger of a star. [laughs]

“But you know what? They gave me a code, I went to the movies for free for a year,” he added. “So that was my [prize]. We’re on good terms.”
