Kota Ibushi continues to tease that he wants to work with All Elite Wrestling.
The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion returned to the ring at The Collective 2023 after he had been sidelined with a shoulder injury since October 2021. He entered free agency after his contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling expired at the end of January. Given his ties with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, he is often linked to AEW.
Speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, Ibushi noted that he has been talking to Omega, and he expressed his hope that he’ll be able to talk to AEW CEO Tony Khan soon.
“Recently, Kenny and I have been talking about things other than games,” Ibushi said. “For example, are your knees okay? Or is your shoulder okay, Also I hope to be in contact with Tony soon.”
Ibushi also brought up AEW All In London at Wembley Stadium and hinted that he’d like to face Chris Jericho of Hangman Page. He also teased his interest in reuniting with Omega and/or the Young Bucks.
“All In is taking place in Wembley Stadium come August, right? Perhaps if I could face Chris Jericho or Hangman Page in a singles match or with the Golden Elite. Maybe the Golden Lo….”
Ibushi recently stated that he is more suited to AEW than Japan. Check out his comments here. He has also commented on his terms for a potential deal with AEW.
