On May 3, New Japan Pro-Wrestling held the NJPW Wrestling Dontaku event from Fukuoka International Center in Fukuoka, Japan. SANADA, Kazuchika Okada, Zack Sabre Jr., and other stars competed at the show, which aired on NJPW World.

- NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Championships: Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomohiro Ishii def. Strong Style (Minoru Suzuki, Ren Narita & El Desperado) (c) to win the championships.
- AEW star Jon Moxley was announced for NJPW Dominion.
- NEVER Openweight Championship: David Finlay def. Tama Tonga (c) to win the championship.
- El Phantasmo attacked Finlay after the match.
- IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: SANADA (c) def. Hiromu Takahashi
- Yota Tsuji returned and attacked SANADA after the match. He then joined Los Ingobernables de Japon.
