Matt Cardona: Hornswoggle Used To Sleep In The Bathtub When We Were On The Road

Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, recalls how he used to save some money when he was on the road in WWE.

Speaking with Brandon Walker on Barstool Rasslin’, Cardona jokingly asked if he and Steph De Lander, who was also being interviewed, could leave their bags in the studio so they could go get pizza. Walker responded by jokingly saying he was worried Hornswoggle was in one of the bags. Cardona then revealed that while he hasn’t put Hornswoggle in a bag, he used to sleep in the bathtub when they were on the road.

Walker: “No, f—- no. I’m scared Hornswoggle will walk out of one of the bags. I’m scared he’ll just walk out and live here. Is he in one of the bags?”

Cardona: “He’s not. He would fit, though.”

Walker: “You ever put him in a bag?”

Cardona: “I’ve put him in a bathtub. We used to, when we were saving money on the road, he would sleep in the bathtub. I’m not joking.”

Walker asked if they would put blankets in the tub for Hornswoggle, and Cardona made it clear that they did. He noted that the bathtub was like a bunk bed.

“We didn’t like throw him in there,” Cardona said. “It was almost like a bunk bed. Of course we put sheets down.”

Cardona then explained that Hornswoggle is a “small individual”, so he fit in the bathtub, whereas he and Brian Myers were too big for it.

“He’s a small individual, so he’d fit,” Cardona said. “I can’t fit in a bathtub. Brian Myers couldn’t fit. But Swoggle, small individual. I don’t think he minded it. I’m sure he would have preferred a bed, but he would have been wasting all that space.”

In the same interview, Cardona noted that he felt like Cody Rhodes should have won at Wrest;eMania 39, but he also saw the long game. Check out his comments here.

Cardona will make his DDT Pro-Wrestling debut at DDT Wrestle Peter Pan. More information is available here.
