Ricochet knows he has to make the most of his opportunities every time he’s presented with them.
RAW Superstar Ricochet was a recent guest on My Love Letter to Wrestling to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked if he pitches any ideas or storylines to WWE, Ricochet admits that’s something that everyone does.
“Everyone’s always got ideas. Everyone’s always pitching ideas every day,” Ricochet said. “I pitched ideas. Anytime I get something, I throw it out there. I pitch it; whether it’s Trips [Triple H], whether it’s the writers, whoever it is, I still throw it out there.
“I understand there’s so many people, there’s so many superstars that you’ve got to take care of. There’s like a trickle-down system. You know what I mean? Like, who’s got the titles, then after the titles, who’s the stories, and after that, it’s like, so I understand that the business side of it. I think for Ricochet, it’s a little different than anybody, really. Because you got to take the opportunities that are given and just make the most of them at all times. And that’s basically how you survive.
“Especially in this whole wrestling world. You take whatever opportunity is handed to you. You cash it in; you make the most of it. Someone else sees that they bring you up another level. You make the most of that opportunity. Someone higher sees that, and it just keeps going. That’s basically how it works.
“And I understand that, and for Ricochet, he kind of gets a reset every time he comes out. So whether he lost in five minutes last week, people don’t really remember because when he comes out, they just know they’re about to see something cool. And so I think that’s like a good and bad thing for Ricochet because I don’t really get the opportunity, for example, like a Seth [Rollins] or an AJ [Styles] or Cody [Rhodes] or someone when they lose a match next week on RAW they get to come out and talk about what happened and why they lost and what’s going to happen in the future and how they’re going to change it. Ricochet doesn’t really get that.
“Ricochet just has to come out and have another match. You know what I mean? Whether he wins or loses, he just comes out and has another match. So until that time comes and I get the opportunity to do the story and get that story which obviously we all want the Rock/Austin, we all want the Cena/CM Punk, we all want these stories. But I think the most important thing is delivering when it matters, delivering when you can what you can when it matters. That way, when the time comes, and they hand me a microphone. I’m gonna tell everybody hey, listen, I’m better than your favorite wrestler. So sorry.”
