Report: Mercedes Moné Eyed For Role In Bad Bunny Spider-Man Spinoff

Mercedes Varnado — also known as Mercedes Moné — was reportedly being eyed for a role in the now-up-in-the-air Spider-Man spin-off El Muerto, according to The Hollywood Reporter

A new report on the film notes that El Muerto is no longer listed on Sony’s calendar amid the ongoing ongoing Writers Guild strike. Casting hadn’t been filled out for the film, but the report notes that Moné was being “eyed “circled” for a role.

El Muerto was set to star Bad Bunny in the titular role, and the film was originally slated to release on January 12, 2024. However, with no production having been done on the film, that would have been nearly impossible, and with more work needed on the script, THR noted that Sony has taken it off of its release schedule, leaving the future of the film up in the air as of now.

Recently, Moné has been branching out into other forms of entertainment, most notably television. She appeared in the hit Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian, as well as a celebrity contestant on the USA Network game show Barmageddon, before she left WWE.

Moné went down with an injury during her match with Willow Nightingale at NJPW Resurgence on May 21. More information is available here.
