Matt Hardy Wants To Help AEW’s Youth Backstage Once He Hangs Up His Boots

Matt Hardy wants to help the youth when he reaches the next stage of his career.

Hardy signed with AEW in 2020, and he remains a featured member of the roster. However, he has been wrestling for over 30 years, so it’s fair to assume his retirement from in-ring competition will happen at some point in the future.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Hardy was asked about how he has prepared for his “second life” in the wrestling world with his podcast, The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, and other projects. He noted that wrestling remains his priority, but when he decides to hang up his boots, he wants to help young talent backstage.

“I do love these projects, the project, the book my life did, we have another book already that’s gonna be coming out shortly,” Hardy said. “It’s stuff I can put on the back burner and I can kind of work on a little bit while I focus on my priority, which is obviously pro wrestling right now. There’s several things I can do to transition over.

“Whenever I decide to stop wrestling in-ring, when I physically stop, I definitely want to be behind the scenes. There’s so many great kids at AEW. Mark [Henry] is a shining example of someone who helps the youth so much. I am there, I want to help the youth, and I think we’re really good with this next generation.”

Hardy recently praised Isiah Kassidy’s growth. Click here to see what he had to say.

Hardy also discussed the possibility of his kids potentially getting involved with wrestling. Check out his comments here.
