The Golden Elite Win Blood & Guts Match On 7/19 AEW Dynamite

The Golden Elite won the 2023 AEW Blood & Guts match.

The July 19 episode of AEW Dynamite was headlined by The Golden Elite’s Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Hangman Page, and The Young Bucks battling The Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita, and PAC inside Blood & Guts.

Blackpool Combat Club had the advantage to start as Castagnoli and Omega were the first two entrants followed by PAC, who returned to action after seven months away. Page entered next, but he was equalized by a screwdriver-wielding Moxley.

Moxley also introduced a fork and a bucket of broken glass shards to up the violence before being the first to take a back-bump onto the pile. Nick Jackson initially wiped out The BCC before he and Omega were driven into the glass shards. Yuta introduced a steel chair to the match, which ended up backfiring when Matt Jackson planted him into it with a DDT.

Moxley pulled out a bed of nails, leading to him dropkicking and bodyslamming Omega onto it. Ibushi made his awaited entrance as the final competitor, which prompted Yuta to run after him on the ramp only to get locked out. Ibushi exacted revenge on behalf of Omega by dropkicking Moxley onto the nails.

Meanwhile, Matt Jackson chased after Yuta outside of the structure, which led to the two going to the top of the structure for suplexes. While up there, Matt poured thumbtacks into the ring before returning to the cage.

PAC suffered from a flurry of offense from The Golden Elite going into the final commercial break. But afterward, he swung off the cage and stomped onto one of the Bucks through a table. All 10 men regrouped themselves on opposing sides before the action broke down with a number of fast-paced moves that turned into simultaneous submissions.

After Castagnoli accidentally hit PAC with an uppercut, PAC abandoned the match by cutting the lock. Page hit Buckshot Lariat on Castagnoli followed by the Buckshot V-Trigger on Yuta. After Don Callis pulled Takeshita out of the bout, Yuta was choked with a chain to end the match by knockout.

The order of entrants was as follows:

  • Claudio Castagnoli
  • Kenny Omega
  • PAC
  • Hangman Page
  • Jon Moxley
  • Nick Jackson
  • Wheeler Yuta
  • Matt Jackson
  • Konosuke Takeshita
  • Kota Ibushi

AEW held its first Blood & Guts match in 2021, which saw The Pinnacle defeat The Inner Circle. Last year, The Blackpool Combat Club beat The Jericho Appreciation Society.
