Gable Steveson Challenges Baron Corbin To Match At NXT Great American Bash

Gable Steveson has made his decision.

During the July 25 episode of WWE NXT, Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson was set to make an announcement regarding his future when Baron Corbin interrupted. Corbin suggested Steveson go back to college or even return to the Olympics. Whatever his choice, Corbin didn’t want Steveson to be in NXT.

Steveson responded and revealed that Corbin’s input officially influenced his decision. He then challenged Corbin to a match at NXT Great American Bash on Sunday before hitting him with a German suplex. Assuming the bout gets confirmed, it will mark Steveson’s in-ring debut.

Steveson signed with WWE in 2021. Despite not competing yet, he has had an increased presence on NXT as of late. During the July 4 NXT, Steveson was in Eddy Thorpe’s corner for an NXT Underground match against Steveson’s real-life brother Damon Kemp.

Gable Steveson’s Decision

Gable Steveson previously noted that he intended to use the final year of his NCAA eligibility. Speaking with FloWrestling in June, he made it clear that he wanted to compete in the NCAA for another season. At the time, Steveson had yet to iron out the scheduling details with WWE before his return could become official. It’s unclear how his looming NXT in-ring debut may change these plans.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
