Alexander Ludwig On Filming HEELS: I’ve Never Done A Show That’s So Painful

Alexander Ludwig has never done a show more painful than HEELS.

HEELS star Alexander Ludwig and wrestling coordinator Luke Hawx recently sat down with IndieWire. When asked about the toll a show like HEELS takes on your body, Ludwig admitted he’s never done a show as painful as this one.

“I’ve never done a show that’s so painful,” Alexander Ludwig said. “It’s always the thing you don’t expect. The big moves, those aren’t the ones that hurt. It’s the smaller ones… it’s like, ‘F**k man, this shit sucks.’”

Luke Hawx helped get the cast of HEELS trained to do this show. Hawx praised the cast and wished more students who came to his school had the same kind of attitude and determination.

“These guys, they just went in and went balls to the wall, nonstop — guys and girls. I wish more students came in with the attitudes and determination that the actors came in with,” Luke Hawx said. “Amateurs often quit within their first week. None of our actors ever, ever, EVER, said ‘I’m not doing this anymore; I’m walking out.’”

Alexander Ludwig finds it hysterical what the insurance companies deem to be too dangerous on the set.

“It’s so funny the ones insurance let you do and don’t let you do,” Alexander Ludwig said. “A zip line seems too dangerous, but we can do the wrestling in the ring. That’s hysterical to me.”
