Kofi Kingston On WWE RAW Return: The New Day Will Re-Infect WWE With Positivity

Now that The New Day is back, Kofi Kingston says they’ll have to re-infect the WWE Universe with the power of positivity.

During an appearance on the August 9 edition of WWE’s The Bump, Kingston was asked to share his thoughts following his surprise return on the August 7 episode of WWE RAW.

“It felt incredible, it felt amazing,” Kingston said. “It was weird because when me and Woods walked into the building, we both got this almost like anxiety, you know what I’m saying? Just walking in and being back into the fold. I have never been out of action for as long as I was, I think it was almost five months to the day. I think I got hurt on March 3, then I had my surgery on 3/16. I’d just not been out for that long.

“So it was a little bit strange to back in the fold and in the locker room. Of course, it’s always business as usual, the world always goes on when you’re not there in the terms of WWE. It felt good, it felt good to be just back home. So yeah, definitely excited to be back.”

Kingston then stated that he and Woods will have to re-infect the WWE Universe with the power of positivity because there has been a lot of hate lately.

“Myself and Woods, we are looking forward to just re-infecting the WWE Universe with the power of positivity,” Kingston said. “As we all know, there’s a lot of hate going on. With The Usos, I don’t know whether to call them The Hurt Business or not, Dawkins and Tez? What is going on? We leave for five months, and all of the sudden, everybody, all this anger is going on, man. So we must gotta re-infect the WWE Universe with that power of positivity once again.”

Kofi Kingston Says In-Ring Return Was Like Riding A Bike

In the same conversation, Kofi Kingston was asked about returning to the ring after he noted that he had never had such a lengthy absence. He described how it was like riding a bike. The former WWE Champion stated that he had some concerns about being able to compete, but all that washed away when he came to the ring.

“Yeah, honestly, it was like riding a bike,” Kingston said. “Just having been away from the ring for that long, you always have these questions in the back of your mind. ‘Oh, am I gonna forget how to do this? Are the people gonna forget who I am?’ You know what I mean? Especially with my ankle injury, am I still gonna be able to do what I do? Am I still gonna be able to move around well out there?

“But fortunately, the WWE Universe has a way of just making all the pain and everything go away. As soon as you walk through those curtains, you don’t feel anything pain-wise. There’s such a rush of adrenaline, and you go out there and you do what you do. So that’s what we did. It was fantastic, it was incredible.”
