Big Update On When Edge’s WWE Contract Expires

Did Edge wrestle his last match for WWE last night on SmackDown?

In the main event of SmackDown last night, Edge defeated Sheamus in his hometown of Toronto in what the WWE Hall of Famer mentioned was the final match on his current contract. But when does this contract officially expire?

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the word going around backstage at SmackDown last night is that Edge’s WWE contract doesn’t expire until October.

If this information is accurate, it eliminates any chance of The Rated R Superstar showing up for All Elite Wrestling at All In or All Out in the coming weeks.

Johnson speculates that the time window will give Edge and WWE time to negotiate and come to terms for a new deal before he is able to get out of his contract and go elsewhere.

Edge confirms his WWE contract expires at the end of September

Edge was a recent guest on the FAN Morning Show, which was recorded prior to his match on SmackDown. When asked what’s next for him, the WWE Hall of Famer admits he’s thought about it but isn’t sure yet. He goes on to confirm his contract with the company expires at the end of September.

“I mean, I can’t say I haven’t thought about it; I have for sure,” Edge admitted. “But I realize that I haven’t come to any conclusions, and I’m kind of torn, honestly. Because I don’t want to do this to the point where I don’t feel like I’m able to have the output that I want. Because only I know how I feel when I’m deep into a match and go, ‘Oof, man, okay, didn’t do enough cardio’ or ‘Man, I did all that cardio, and I’m still feeling this way.’

“So that’s why I really want to collect myself after this thing, take a big ole deep breath and just decide what that is. My contract is up at the end of September. This is my last contracted match. So I have a lot of decisions to make. But I can’t do it now. I have to see how Friday goes in a weird way. I know that’s not a clear answer, but I don’t have it yet.”
