WWE was prepared to answer inquiries about CM Punk not coming into the company as early as Fastlane last month.
While CM Punk has been a large topic of conversation online in recent months, there was no mention of him by the media during the WWE Fastlane post-show scrum in Indianapolis last month. But had a question been asked, everyone in WWE was prepared to handle them.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), in the event that the former AEW World Champion was brought up by the media in the WWE Fastlane post-show scrum, Triple H and a number of talents present were prepared to answer. Some of the names on the scrum were actually prepped by the company ahead of time.
WWE sources who spoke with Sapp were surprised that nothing about Punk had been asked. Despite that, Triple H was ready to answer these questions had they been presented to him.
As of this past Monday, the internal line on Punk coming in being a “firm no” from WWE higher-ups remains unchanged.
