Tony Schiavone Wants To See Sting Bring Back Surfer Sting For His Last Match

Tony Schiavone hopes Sting brings back his classic look for his last match.

As previously announced, Sting will wrestle his last match at AEW Revolution 2024. AEW then brought in Ric Flair to accompany “The Icon” on his last run.

Speaking on What Happened When, Tony Schiavone commented on Ric Flair joining AEW and noted that he is honored to be associated with “The Nature Boy” and Sting.

“[Announcing him to the ring] was surreal. It really was,” Tony Schiabone said. “I was really thrilled about doing it. I was talking to Sting on Saturday, when we were in Oakland, and we were giving each other a hard time, as you do. There was a bunch of guys standing around, and I said, ‘Yeah, I remember the first time I stuck the microphone in front of Sting at the TBS studios.’

“I said Sting was so blown up, he couldn’t get words out. Sting says, ‘I don’t remember that.’ I said, ‘Well, it’s on video if you’d like me to pull it up.’ But both have been such phenomenal performers, and I’ve said this many times. I’m honored to be tied to them in some way.”

Tony Schiavone On Surfer Sting: People Would Love It

Tony Schiavone continued by stating that people would love to see Sting come out as Surfer Sting in his last match.

“I really would like for Sting, for his last match, to come out as Surfer Sting, wouldn’t you? Blond the hair, spike it up. It would be great,” he said. “A lot of people would love to see it. Maybe we can convince him to do it.”

Before he took on his iconic black-and-white-look, Sting wore brighter colors for his face-paint and spiked his blond hair.

As of this writing, there is no word on who the legend will face in his last match. At AEW Full Gear, he will team up with Darby Allin and Adam Copeland to face Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne.
